Covington -- Kenneth S. Abernathy, 84, Covington, died at 3:20 p.m. April 4, 1997 in Sunhealth & Rehab, Danville, Ill.
He was born May 12, 1912 in Wabash Township, Fountain County, the son of Lucky and Katherine Florence Keller Abernathy. He married Lucille B. Davis Aug 16, 1933. She preceded in death Sept 26 1979. e was a life resident of Wabash Township. He was a Carman at the C&EI Railroad shops for 33 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Cooper's Chapel Church, Unity Lodge #344 F&AM and Perrysville Chapter #302 OES. Surviving are a son, Kenneth Richard (Pat) Abernathy, Covington: five grandsons, Scott (Susie) Abernathy, Sparks, Nev.; Stanley (Tonya) Abernathy, Rick (Robin) Abernathy, Jeff (Chris) Abernathy and Kenny (Mariann) Abernathy, all of Covington; a granddaughter, Michelle (Rich) Tolbert, Perrysville; three sisters, Irene Wittenmyer and Helen Furr, both of Rockville, and Sylvia (Joe) Coffing, Kingman; a brother, Davie E. (Jean) Abernathy, Veedersburg; 14 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Oma Colwell, Gladys Keller and Geraldine Riley; and four brothers, Ora Abernathy, Manford Abernathy, Stephen Abernathy and Dale Abernathy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Shelby Funeral Home, Coving ton, with Pastor Paul Kirby officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. - thanks to Betty D
